PRESS RELEASE (IN)VISIBLE – CULTURAL ACTIVITIES IN ARISTI “In memory Christos Gkouvis”

The promotion of cultural heritage in mountain communities is the goal of a series of events that will take place in Aristi Zagori from 24 to 28 August 2022.

In particular, Archeion Taxis is co-organizing with the Ioannis Saralis Foundation and the Aristi Youth Club the action (IN)VISIBLE: The intangible cultural heritage of Zagori through the communal archives, funded by and under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports.

In this context, we organise discussions and activities that aim to use the historical archives of the communities to document the traditional management of natural resources (soils, forests, water, etc.) in a way that highlights the holistic nature of our cultural heritage and consolidates a modern ecological culture. The following programme is open to the young and old friends of Zagori, free of charge.

Finally, we are particularly pleased that the (IN)VISIBLE action is being supported by additional partners: the Vikos-Aoos UNESCO Global Geopark and the esteemed academics Paul Halstead, Professor Emeritus of Archaeology (University of Sheffield) and Dr Kalliopi Stara, who highlighted the importance of the Sacred Forests and led the effort for their inclusion in the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

We will be happy to see you all in Aristi!
